Thursday doors…doors seen along the way

We door people often bemoan care impede our door photos but here the cars are the stars and I couldn’t get rid of the background noise. To get the first shot, I had to stop in the street while staying in the car. I have a soft spot and an eagle eye for Beetles as I drove my well-loved, bright yellow ’74 Super Beetle for many years We have a friend back in Illinois who’s restored an old Bug so I take photos of them whenever possible to send back to him. He can immediately tell me the year of any of them.

Someone’s been taking good care of this beauty!

Southern California is the place to find older a/o restored cars due to the lack of snow, ice, and salt. It’s also a good place to leave the top down on your car a great deal of the year.

I used to drive a 1954 Beetle: it had no fuel gauge (what was the thinking behind that?) so I had to fill up before I went on any trip longer than to work and back.

Have never owned a Beetle, but knows many and friends too – who dream sweet dreams about when they thinks back on their time in paradise. One of the most classic cars ever, dreams still going on for many. Guess no color is impossible for this car, think they have been able to be seen in any color throughout the ages. 😀

A fabulous collection of car doors Janet 😀

  4. Three beauties. I’m not a truck guy, but to me, it stole the show.

  5. You saw some neat classics! I agree the truck stole the show. 😀

Oh Janet, I really like your doors. 😀 😀

I love these cars and trucks, Janet. Growing up in Pittsburgh, with the hills. ice, snow, salt and mill ashes on the roads, a ’74 Beetle would have been a rust bucket by 1980. These are great!

    • And when they got somewhat rusty, there was a problem with the heater! Mine lasted longer than that despite three years in Colorado, years in the Midwest, and many, many miles. Finally we sold it because we couldn’t get a car seat in the back when we had our first child. 😦

Fun doors today, Janet, and I bet we all have a few ‘door’ photos with cars obscuring the intended subject.

  9. Fabulous doors, Janet. I love the green Beetle, but that truck is fantastic too. Hugs.

These are all great cars! My father had a beetle but it was dark green. I loved it. (K)

I could not tell from the reader – but are you visible in the green BUG hubcaps?
