Given the right music and lighting (or lack thereof), these mausoleums at Lakeview Cemetery might be quite spooky. On the lovely day, they just had me running from one to the next because mausoleums have…doors!! And they’re interesting to boot. So without further ado, let’s take a look at the first three doors I came across. Which one catches your fancy?

No living dead (isn’t that an oxymoron?) or undead are getting out of this one easily! But apparently there are breathing holes. 🙂

I don’t now how old any of these are but this one certainly is the tidiest of the three although I kind of like that overgrowth on top of the first one.

After a week’s break (how did we survive???), Dan’s back hosting Thursday Doors from around the world. Take a peek or join by clicking on the highlighted link below.

That first one has a definite patina of age, and with the surrounding greenery looks a tad mysterious….
I liked that one too.
Good!
The first one for me 🙂
Me too. 😁
You should visit them at midnight to get really scary pics! But rather you than me!
It would definitely be atmospheric then!
It’s time for the Monster Mash
Earworm!!
I also visited a cemetery while on my break. I will be sharing mausoleum doors in the near future — great minds! I like the last one the best, but they all are fascinating. The filled in door of the first one is a bit creepy. Talk about a ghost door.
Great minds indeed. I have lots more so we may overlap, which is fine. As for the first door, I have no idea why they would fill it on. Makes it creepier doesn’t it? 😳
It does !
A.H. Delamater’s *place* is my favorite. I’m easily charmed by arches.
I’m sure A. H. Is pleased. 😉
I like the door in the second one, but the last one is my favorite.
It’s hard to choose, isn’t it?
It is!
I like the first one for it’s creepiness. I’ve often wondered why the dead think they need so much space when they are gone. Can’t really move around much.
These usually have a number of people buried in them? Maybe three on each side or something similar. So they might take up less room than if they were all buried separately.
Yeah I wasn’t thinking of family plots. Still very interesting to look at.
Very true. You have to have some serious money for a mausoleum like these but fun if you can do it.
Mausoleums isn’t something we’re used to in South Africa. While they look very imposing, my mind immediately wanders to the logistics of using them. Wouldn’t you need a hazmat suit to enter them once the first family member was interred? And then to have such serious security gates in front of the doors – is there a serious risk of grave robbers? Questions like that…
The occupants are in coffins, so forget the hazmat suits. As far as the gates, I’m pretty sure they were there to keep people out not in. Lol.
😀
Loving the first one as it is pretty mysterious! All are quite fascinating.
I am so enjoying this cemetery tour that you have been taking us on.
I’m glad you’re enjoying it so much, Nancy. I think we’re mostly done except for more Thursday doors posts but it’s been fun.
Thank you for a job well done sharing a Cleveland Treasure!
Just realized I have one more big thing to share from Lakeview. 😉
Can’t wait!
😁. Have a great weekend, Nancy. We’re up early tomorrow to go to Mt. Lemmon for the views and the (relative) coolness. Can’t wait. I love it there.
Enjoy!
The 1st is the best
That’s my favorite too, Tanja.
janet
I love them all! 🌞
Good! Lots more where those came from. 😁
Great doors, Janet. None that I’d want to be trapped behind at the moment. Lots of atmosphere for sure. Congratulations on being one of the July guest hosts for LAPC. Well done, my friend.
Thanks, Marsha. I wouldn’t want to be trapped in one either bit if I were dead, I wouldn’t care. 😁. I’m honored to be asked to host and looking forward to it. ❤️
I’m so excited for you! I’m sure I wouldn’t care if I were dead to be in one of those doors! 🙂
Great selections, the first one especially.
I think the greenery helped make that one a favorite.
I especially like the first one…it looks like a portal to another world. I guess in a way it is! (K)
🙂 You’re exactly right.
Doors to the otherworld… very cool.
Nonetheless, I’m terrified. 😱
I think you’re far enough away to be safe. Besides, they’re unlikely to have valid passports. 😁
Lol!!!
