If you wrote a story about one (or all) of these, would that piece of writing be considered cryptic? Hmmm, something to ponder as you decide which of these you’d use for your “Tale of the Crypt.”
Although I’m not a fan of the pillar look…

…I’m a BIG fan of this door-gate combination!!

If whoever did the wording here had only switched two letters, we would have all known the tomb was “theirs”, not someone else’s. I do like the doors, though.

Although I like the look of these doors, the real jewel is the window at the back.

Even with the reflections, its Art Deco vibe is stunning.

So which is your favorite and why? People are dying to find out, just as they’re dying to join Thursday Doors, ably hosted as always by our very own vampire slayer, Dan. Head on over to see more doors and to link up your post if you want to participate.

They definitely feel like tombs from which there is no escape, Janet, but the Art Deco is very pretty.
I doubt anyone’s escaping if only buried in the ground either, but I know what you mean. 😁
🤣🩵
oh, wow, that window!
Isn’t that glorious?
As they said on Fantasy Island …. Dah gate, dah gate. It’s ornate classy look … but I also like the art deco.
You may choose both, Frank. 😉
These are all fab though my fave is no 2
It’s hard for me to choose too.
Understandable
Crypts are fascinating and kind of creepy, and those a great doors for today!
Thanks! I think they’re probably creepier at night but they’re certainly fascinating.
I can tell you had fun with this one, Janet. I was laughing along, wandering through a cemetery. My apologies to the dear departed. I like the crypt for Thiers. Curious that they wanted to let some light in. Stained glass, no less. I think their final home is more elegant than my plot while alive. Excellent doors.
Laughing keeps the creepy things away, Dan, so good choice. 😉. I wonder who chose the crypt, the dead before dying or the family afterwards, because those inside can’t appreciate their (Thier) surroundings. But I love that we have something so amazing to see now and wonder about.
I wonder how many people are interred in those crypts?
I’ve seen as many as six caskets or sarcophagi in one of these.
Wow
That window! Wow! I like the doors as well to that one. Pretty neat that they wanted to leave some light in.
Another great post, thank you!
The window was an unexpected but exciting bonus and I liked all the doors.
I do like the gated door too, and the color of the next one, and that reflection and window are lovely.
All three of these have something special, I think.
That window at the back is something else. Kind of spooky, but also pretty.
Yes, that window is amazing. Seems somewhat of a waste to have it where it is where hardly anyone will see it. I’d love to have it in my house. 🙂
Stained glass always wins, as a general rule.
I agree, especially when it’s so Art Deco.
The Art Deco is really cool!
I thought so too. It was a great surprise.
That reflection holds a mystery inside it I think. (K)
The reflection is me and the trees and other things growing around the crypt/mausoleum. But I want to get a closer look at the window and it was the best I could do.
You also reminded me of something my father said every time we passed a cemetery–“It’s a grave situation. People are dying every day to get in there”.
Ha! Good one.
Love t,hat second one, but Los the one with the window
They each have something appealing, which is good. 😉
Certainly
My favorite is the one with the ironwork gate/door. I never did understand crypts. But they make for interesting architecture. Nice post. Pat
They do make for interesting architecture, Pat. I’m glad you enjoyed these.
janet
The art deco window is very interesting and quite lovely.
I would love to have that window in our house! 🙂
Me too!
