It’s once again time for Thursday Doors, but just a reminder before we start that next week, Thursday Doors in on hiatus. I’m reminding myself as well, but I’ll be in Wyoming with very, very limited connectivity so I’ll probably be MIA for several weeks. Picture-taking, however, will continue unabated. 🙂
This week’s doors are found on St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Hamilton Village, at the edge of the University of Pennsylvania campus in Philadelphia where the lovely window from yesterday’s Wordless Wednesday post was found. By the way, the discussion last week about using “Wordless Wednesday” as a title free and clear was so much fun. I automatically fell into using it today and probably will continue to do so unless I play around a bit more with it. Thanks to all of you who participated in the animated discussion! Now on to the doors. There’s just something attractive about red doors, which you seem to often find on churches of a certain stye and age. So enjoy!

Ecclesiastical doors are the best, especially red ones
I completely agree, at least on the classic, older churches.
😎
Great doors!
Please tell me there’s a working pipe organ behind these beautiful doors!?
I believe there was. While we could go in, we could only go into a small area on the side of the church that didn’t allow access to the rest.
These are AWESOME!!
Thanks, Julie. I was excited to find them. 😉
These are lovely doors, Janet. I love red doors and churches are such a great place to find wonderful examples.
Enjoy your time in Wyoming. Wishing you safe travels and good weather.
Thanks, Dan. It will be much cooler in Wyoming, so if only for that I’d look forward to it. Of course, there are lots more reasons. 😉
Such a striking and beautiful contrast. I love that rich pop of color against the cool stone walls.
The perfect look and contrast.
Churches usually have great doors and windows, as are these too
Here the older, classic style churches often have great doors and windows, while those built more recently often don’t. So it’s always a joy to find some like these. Many churches built more recently have lovely stained glass windows, though.
it must be that I only visit old churches, 🙂 I am not a church goer otherwise.
Our church is modern so it has regular doors. But we do have some lovely stained glass window.
I’ve always loved red doors. These are beautiful. Enjoy your getaway and hopefully much cooler temps than in Phx. I think we’ll head back up to Grand Junction next week.
I also love red doors, Ingrid. Looks like the highs in Sheridan when I arrive will be upper 70’s/low 80’s and lows in the 50’s. Subtract 10 degrees for being up in the mountains and it will be wonderful!! Hard to pack clothes for that when it’s so hot here. 🙂 Perhaps we’ll see each other at mile marker 13. 🙂
Enjoy those temps and safe travels. If we don’t pass each other, we’ll at least capture similar images 🤗
These are beautiful doors, Janet! Have a great time and drive safe!
Thanks, Deborah. 🙂
Wow, impressive doors!
Thanks, Brenda. I loved them.
Ooooh love the red doors. Hugs.
Hugs back, Teagan. Glad you loved them.
I am glad that you will be taking pictures while MIA.
Thanks! To paraphrase Monet on flowers: “I must have photos, always and always.” 🙂
Very cool doors. I think the first one is my favorite. Have fun on your trip. Looking forward to the unusual things you will find and share!
I loved these doors too. I’ll keep my eyes open for things I don’t want you to overlook. 🙂
A lovely trio of church doors, that would not look out of place in England.
Nor would the church. But I’d expect no less as Philadelphia is one of our oldest cities and settled by lots of English people.
That would explain it.
Beautiful red door, wow!!
I do love some good red doors, Amy. Glad you do too. 🙂
A Red Riding Hood poster on a red door. Clever!
🙂 Trust you to zoom i on that, Ally. I should have expected that. 🙂 Happy Friday!
Love the red doors. You wrote in the comments that you are unable to post on my blog….I am the elephant door person. I am on google . I have ticked the box that says I accept all comments so I don’t know what is going on….Anyway thank you for letting me know.
Dorgeous, Janet!
Hey..never mind puns, I just made a riddle.
Why are these doors like feet?
I have no idea, Resa. How are they?
They’ve got sole.
I love the last one and I think the poster of little red riding hood actually adds to the photo, almost as if the door belongs to her.
Maybe she went into the church to escape the Big Bad Wolf. 😉
Haha yes maybe
