In the interest of not clogging your Reader or email, I’m combining two challenges today: my usual Thursday Doors and Becky’s Squares. One of her words for May is burgeoning , meaning flourishing or growing rapidly. I’ve been eyeing this tree every time I drove by so yesterday morning I crossed the street during my morning walk and took a photo of it and the lantana below, both burgeoning their little hearts out!

Now on to the doors. You might remember I mentioned going to a classic air-cooled VW show a few weekends ago. Although I somehow managed to refrain from taking photos of every single car/bus there, I did take quite a few. Here are the first three for your enjoyment.
This one has a sun roof, luggage carrier on the back, and cool pattern on both doors and hood, matching the interior color. Remember, these had their engines in the back and the front was the trunk. That meant they had really great traction.

I love the contrasting colors.

One of my favorites as far as color and ready for some Arizona off-roading!

It’s worth a look at the back as well. That bumper provided an unanticipated selfie of me looking very squat and fat!! 🙂 That’s it for this week, but there are many, many more to come.

Wonderful
They really were.
such a stunning tree, I am so glad you crossed the street to look at it more closely for us. And great cars too, already to begin moving forward
I don’t think there’s more room on that tree for any more blossoms! I didn’t think of that for that angle for the cars. 😉
I think you are right, it is quite extraordinary
hee hee on the cars, you can see I am completely in square mode!
True. I’ll have to be on my toes looking for meanings. 😉
I know how it feels to cross the street and take a picture of a flowering tree. I’m glad you did, it’s beautiful.
The VWs are classics. I knew they were often made into dune buggies, but I’ve never seen one mostly left intact for off-road use. That must be a hoot to drive.
Mine was fun to drive and it wasn’t a dune buggy, but I know what you mean. Just imagine over 100 VW’s of various kinds and you’ll understand how much I loved this show.
The tree is just glorious right now.
Love the cars, so much more recognizable that card nowadays. And the tree is so beautiful
Yes, VW’s had that certain something that made them special and impossible to miss.
Love the colour combination of the tree and lantana, and the cars are classic
Thanks, Pauline.
Soi cool Janet 😀
Definitely!
Old cars are always a winner!
Lucky for me, I have quite a few more. 🙂 🙂
Beautiful cars a wonderful gallery. The blue VW is awesome.
P.S. Love the fabulous Oleander blossing in the first photo,
Thanks very much, Suzette. A blessed Thursday to you.
Thank you! Same to you, Janet!
That tree!
The VW’s are sweeeeeet!
My dream car is a baby blue VW Bug convertible. I will have one some day! 💙
Yes, that tree. 🥰. Beetles/Bugs do much better here where there’s no salt on the winter roads or lots of moisture.
Some of the older model VWs had batteries under their back seats. And those batteries needed water all the time! I went all over Europe in a 57 VW bug.
I think the battery in my ‘74 Super Beetle was under the back seat too. Loved that car!
The tree and VW’s are quite amazing
That blue! What an amazing color to see on a car.
Very good burgeoning in my opinion.
Thanks.
Woohoo to another Squarer!
Such fun that your doors are not to buildings but to such adorable vehicles.
I always like to find some unusual doors if possible. I’m happy you liked them. ❤️. I’m happy squares are back, even more so because it says Becky’s feeling good enough to host them again.
Lovely!
Thanks.
That light blue bug with the contrasting stripe and cool front end was my favorite today.
There were so many and almost every one was just great!
That’s a stunning picture of the tree so full of flowers. I bet it smelt amazing. Gosh there was a LOT of cars at that show!
The most amazing scent is the brief time when the citrus trees blossom. As for the car show, there were supposed to be 100+ vehicles there, all VW’s. It was great!
Gorgeous cars! I’m not really into cars, but I like looking at old and unusual ones.
These are such classics and so cute that they’re hard to resist. I loved mine and they’re real workhorses.
Thanks for commenting, Gloria. I’m happy you enjoyed these. The shoe was so much fun.
