Today is the 80th anniversary of D-Day. We remember all who fought as well as all who died. My father-in-law was the only man from his Higgins boat to make it to shore that day. He was later in the Pacific as well. War is always horrible, but it is sometimes necessary and we are thankful for those willing to do what needs to be done when it is. We remember so we never forget.
It’s that time of the week again, time for Thursday Doors, and I’ve been browsing through photos on my iPad, only to come across three I haven’t used that would be perfect for the challenge.
This first trick sits near several of our favorite places in Cave Creek, Arizona. The Grotto Cafe features a lovely outdoor area that’s misted in the hot weather but most enjoyable when it’s cooler. Of course, you can always eat inside. It’s also been the location for one of our Arizona blogger meetups.
Red Truck Trading Company is made up of three stores: a consignment store and two featuring new furniture and furnishings. We bought an enormous signature mirror, as well as another mirror and a coffee table, from the consignment store, and a new couch from one of the other stores.

Here’s a snazzy classic…

…and here a two-tone beauty.

That’s it for this week. If you’re interested in doors, whether just looking or if you have door photos you’d like to share, click on the highlighted link in the first paragraph, which will take you to Dan’s site for this week. Dan’s the Thursday Doors genial host, and he and all the other TD participants will make you feel right at home.

Wonderful trio
Thanks, Sheree.
Fab red vehicles Janet
Certainly eye-catching.
Those are great vehicles and lovely red doors!
Thanks, Deborah.
Love the red!!
Great admiration for The Greatest Generation. And gratitude for all who have served and who continue to serve!
I feel as you do, Julie. They did what needed to be done, at great personal cost.
here’s to all and love the red
Thanks, Beth, and a blessed Thursday to you.
What a fun part of the local community. These cars/trucks are all clearly well cared for.
Three different communities, but all fun. 😉
First off, I am sharing some very good thoughts and much gratitude for your father-in-law. Most of those soldiers are no longer with us, but we remember.
Great doors today. Three classics in wonderful condition.
There aren’t many of those veterans left. I saw a news report about two or three that were there for the remembrance, but soon that generation will be gone. Then it’s up to us to not just remember, but teach the next generation to not only remember but to understand the cause and to honor them. I don’t see that happening in many schools today.
Me neither, and that’s sad. If we forget them, and for their stories, we forget that this could happen again.
Exactly. Too many now are taught that our country is a bad place and that socialism is better.
Every time we are at the VA and see a WWII veteran, it’s like a celebrity has arrived. And rightly so! Cool red vehicles and gathering spot!
Good. They should be honored. Not many left to honor or tell their stories.
Thanks for the reminder of Memorial Day. Honor and respect for your Father in Law, and all who answered the call, and met the sacrifice.
I so agree. The same for all who serve, past and present.
