Since I inadvertently posted my Friday flowers post on Friday New Zealand time, I’ll take this opportunity to share a wonderful Veteran’s Day display, the Healing Field of Honor, in Naperville. I was fortunate because, due to the weather, the flags weren’t taken down the day after Veteran’s Day and now I can share it with you as well.

Thursday I’m heading to Philadelphia (by van, not by boat), to take a load of things to our younger daughter. I’m rather good at packing, but even I can’t figure out a way to get a small couch into my second bag with Southwest, hence the van and the drive. 🙂 Between today and Thursday, I work and have lots to do around the house, so I won’t have time to blog. But I wanted to leave you with a little something, as Winnie-the-Pooh might say, to make you happy while I’m gone and this is it, the view from the lake just a short distance from the cabin. Enjoy and see you next week!

Used an iPhone photo taken through a window with a screen, boosted the color, then used Lomo-ish from Picasa with a bit of a vignette. I think it looks a bit like a painting. Just gotta have some fun.

…but just for a bit.  Between work and my upcoming trip to Philadelphia, I can’t keep up with the blog.  So  I wish you all the best during the next week or so and look forward to catching up with you when I get back online.  As Pooh would say, “TTFN.”

No flowers around yet, so instead I’ll share this photo of a flowering tea.  Tea leaves are wrapped around dried flowers and tied at the bottom.  When steeped, the leaves open, revealing the flower/s.  It’s a joy to watch the unfurling as well as to see the finished “flower” and drink the tea.

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s a…???

I know today is Thursday and the doors I was going to feature are in my folder, but I just can’t do it.  They should have been done last night, but life has gotten too busy at the moment and when I realized this morning that I hadn’t gotten them into a post and that I don’t have time in the next few days to respond to comments or visit all the posts I want to see, I decided enough is enough.  Life has to be lived and work obligations met and especially in this season, I don’t want to be any more overwhelmed than need be.

So I’m taking a few days off, but leaving you with this shot from my Monday walk in the park.  It’s a sort of “light at the end of the tunnel” photo, in a place you’ve seen at least several times on the blog before, once with fog at the end, once with a deer and rabbit silhouetted halfway down.  Enjoy the beauty and the symbolism.  Take time to enjoy the season and I’ll see you soon.  Feel free to chat, as I’ll have a bit of time here and there to check and I’ll miss that.

You see plenty birds perching on the tops of houses, but you don’t often see a duck there.  I decided to have a little editing fun with this photo of a duck atop the house across the street.  If I were channeling my inner Andrew Wyeth, it might have looked like this.
