Air travel

I’m not traveling by air today but by car.  However, this is a haiku I penned while on the way back from France in October.  I think the feeling applies to travel of all sorts.


The pre-trip me

I wake early (as usual) and try unsuccessfully to go back to sleep.  Later today, our older daughter and I leave for Costa Rica…in the way of flights these days going first east to Ft. Lauderdale, then west to Costa Rica.  Usually I’m excited for a trip, especially to somewhere I haven’t been, but this trip seems to hang over me like a small, dark cloud. (more…)
