Let’s look back at my first visit at Descanso Gardens several years ago for something bright and colorful (or colourful if you’re English.) Either way it’s a great way to celebrate TGIF.

Bright and colorful…but deadly

The last time I was in France, we came across a plethora of these beauties, but despite their colorful beauty, they’re deadly as seems to often be the case in the plant and animal world.

Thanks, Jude, for inviting us to share color and brightness in a month often lacking in both. That’s not true in the American Southwest where the plants are relaxing, enjoying the lack of high heat, I think, but no matter where we are, we can always use color so let’s have at it!
I’ll start with something whimsical, the “glass” that my drink came in while in San Diego months ago. The drink was good and the food absolutely delicious. Best of all, I didn’t have to pay. 🙂
On a more somber note, today is Pearl Harbor Day in the US as well as my mom’s 92nd birthday. I imagine that day wasn’t her best birthday, especially as her family lived in California.
We’re live…at least for now!

One of our favorite groups is Pink Martini, a group that can do all types of music in all sorts of languages on all kinds of instruments and all superbly. I’ve been privileged to hear them more than once, this time with my husband in Chicago where they also brought along the Von Trapp grandchildren. It was marvelous and naturally the stage was lighted in bright pink.

(I’ll be road tripping today so excuse late responses and visits. I’m off to Tucson to meet another blogger named Lisa, We’re going to visit Sweetwater Wetlands, have tea at a new-to-me tea house, and lunch somewhere so I’m sure thesre will be some photos to share. I hope all your weekends are off to a grand start.)

Bright at night

On the night of the conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn, we went to a nearby park. While waiting, we walked around the small lake. These bright green colors are lights on the roofs of several of the structures. We enjoyed both the conjunction and the night out.
