Once again it’s Friday and time for a flower photo. I took this photo in California where I was excited to be able to take some shots that included drops. Today in our part of Arizona it’s been threatening to rain and we’ve had a few measly attempts but nothing that adds up to much. However, the skies are still dark so we still have hope. Welcome to Friday and don’t forget to check your spam folder. I’ve had at somewhere between 75 and 100 today in total so far, none of them legitimate

While in California the last two weeks, I realized that while I’m there I’m taking photos almost exclusively of grandson, flowers, and doors. 🙂 I did get some of the ocean but somewhat tangentially. As I’ve mentioned before, the doors in Arizona are often purely practical doors designed to keep the sun’s very direct, hot, and harmful rays away from the inside door. It makes sense but doesn’t make for very interesting door photos. My family has gotten used to me stopping all the time for door and flower shots and are remarkably good about it, even holding my to-go cup when needed. 🙂

However, it’s Friday and that means doors were yesterday and flowers are today. How about some morning glories to start (or perhaps a much-needed jolt of happiness in) your day?

One of the non-family joys of a visit to southern California is the variety of vegetation, especially flowers. These coreopses brightened one of our recent walks. Welcome to Friday. I’m not at all sad to be missing almost-record high temperatures back home in Phoenix, soaring above 110 over the weekend!

Beach walks, reading time, good food, relaxing, family/grandson time. Life is good. I hope yours is too.

FOTD 5.20.22

Spotted these on one of my morning walks. I like the color and the naturalness of the setting. If I seem inattentive today, it’s probably because my dad fell last night and is in the hospital so they can check whether he cracked or broke any ribs. So I imagine I’ll be a bit busy today. No, I don’t believe that Friday the 13th is bad luck. In fact, 13 was always my softball number and I consider Friday the 13th to be a lucky day. After all, his fall happened on the 12th. 🙂 A happy and blessed Friday and don’t forget to stop and enjoy the flowers. 🙂

Six-Word Saturday and FOTD 5.7.22

Somehow it’s once again Thursday night and I’m flying fast to find a flower photo for Friday…and throwing in a bit of alliteration for you. I hope your Friday is full of fun. Did it again. 🙂

Lavender is one of my favorite flowers and when my s-i-l lived in Provence, all the markets had lavender for sale at ridiculously low prices. On the day we visited an area where lavender was grown, although it had already been harvested, I gleaned leavings from the ends of the fields, somehow managing to get them back home unscathed despite being in my checked bag. The scent still hung over the field and lasted for years in a decorative bag in my cedar chest.

So when we moved to Arizona, I was sure I could grow lavender in the yard, only to fail miserably. During a visit to a lavender farm in Pine, Arizona, I questioned the owner who told me I should look for Spanish lavender, not French or English which wouldn’t grow in our location. I now have several thriving plants, even though they aren’t the high French plants you see in photos. This lavender however flourishes in Redondo Beach, making my walk a scent-sible one. 🙂

The air was fragrant with a thousand trodden aromatic herbs, with fields of lavender, and with the brightest roses blushing in tufts all over the meadows… William C. Bryant

Cee’s FOTD (aka Flower of the Day) 4.29.22

Just out of curiosity, is anyone else getting lots and lots of spam in their spam folder? It’s been nonstop!

Here’s another look at a trumpet cactus flower, this time from the side. Happy midweek! I’m excited because yesterday I bought two tickets for the Los Angeles 7’s rugby tournament at the end of August. It’s going to be an amazing experience.

Also for Cee’s FOTD aka Flower of the Day 🙂
