One of the fascinating things about macro photography, the theme for this week’s Phoneography Challenge,  is the discovery of the unexpected in the photo.  Sometimes I notice it when focusing my phone, but often I don’t see it until later, when my photos have transferred to my iPad and are larger.  The unexpected in the case of flowers is generally a bug of some sort and even though bugs tend to…well…bug off if I get too close, they often end up as major features of the photo.  Here are some unexpected visitors I encountered recently on my walks through the park and around the small lake near our house.

Today I’m taking a break from all things French, but we plan to be on the route of today’s stage of the Tour de France, hopefully at the finish line area.  Perhaps you’ll spot us on TV if you’re a fan.  Back tomorrow with more from France.
