One Word Sunday: Orange

Cellpic Sunday 10.23.22

I’ll be on the road again today, covering the miles between Phoenix and southern California, although with gas prices the way they are, it will be a much more expensive trip than the last one! I have to steel myself for the cost of that one tank of gas necessary to get before coming back home next Monday. Sigh.

At any rate, I have some unused orange squares so I thought I’d squander them today to get you through the week without me, even though yesterday ended the square challenge. 🙂 Wasn’t that thoughtful? Becky, I did sneak in one non-square, so just ignore that one and go with the rest.

Keep well, all of you, while I’m gone.

Heading home from my parents’ house and no, I wasn’t driving.

for Life in Colour: orange

How about some orange roofs for Life in Colour…if you can tear your eyes away from the beach, ocean, and far view. This was part of a delightful time of driving around looking at expensive houses with fabulous views during my recent visit to Southern California.

Like the poltergeist in the eponymous movie “Poltergeist”, I’m baaaaack. 🙂 Actually got back the end of last week but have been dealing with helping-aging-parents things so today’s the first day back on the blog. But first news first: God willing, we’ll be grandparents to a baby boy end of March-ish next year. 🙂 First one for both sides of the family so exciting times. ❤

On the blogging side of things, Jude’s moved to one of fall’s bright colors/colours: “orange”, so here’s my first offering: an apricot tartlet from the newly-opened “Sweet Wheat” in Redondo Beach, California, an artisan boulangerie run by French brothers and it is, as my sister-in-law in France said when I sent her some photos, “a proper bakery.” Don’t hate me if you look at the photos and read descriptions of what they have to offer. The first day I had a wonderful pain au chocolat (“proper name”, no “chocolate croissant” here); the morning I left, this not-too-sweet tartlet. Délicieux!

I also noticed Becky is allowing us crazy retro freedom this month with “Past Squares” as the theme. Several she shared are “bright” and “circles and squares.” This hits “bright” and “circles” so, Becky, you get a tartlet as well!
