Our California vacation didn’t turn out exactly as planned (understatement!) but I did manage to find two more power-full doors that I thought you might like. After deciding to use the slider, I had a moment of panic when I couldn’t find it, only to realize it’s called “image compare.” 🙂 As we were in southern California, our son-in-law surfs (not pictured on this first box!), and maybe because these boxes featured surfboards, a reference to the Beach Boys seemed apropos.

You get a bonus skateboard in this second set. A side note: one of the locations mentioned in “Surfin’ USA” is Redondo Beach, home of these boxes and our family.

If everybody had an ocean
Across the U.S.A
Then everybody’d be surfin’
Like Californi-a
You’d see them wearing their baggies
Huarache sandals too
A bushy bushy blond hairdo
Surfin’ U.S.A

Thursday Doors 3.9.23

We’ve all agreed that we’d like to see every dull, boring, grey/gray power boxes painted something else and I found several I really liked while walking in downtown Aurora, Illinois with my friend who was willing to patiently wait while I took photos. 🙂 I especially like this first one because the colors are so arresting. Anyone else get a bit of a “Matrix” vibe?

I was loving the Art Deco look of this pair.

And finally here’s another power box for your Thursday enjoyment. Here we are already in December. How did that happen??

Thursday Doors is hosted as always by the Door Keeper in Chief, Dan the Doorman AKA Dan the author. Thanks, Dan.

Dan says he’s serving leftovers in today’s Thursday Doors post. I like leftovers! After visits to California and Prescott, I now have a plethora of doors as well as doors left over from previous trips. So let’s get started using some of them.

I’ve said it before and I’m obviously saying it again: I love when cities put art of otherwise drab, boring doors. Here are two examples from Redondo beach and two views of each. I guarantee they’ll brighten your day.

This morning I’m off for another meet-and-greet with fellow bloggers: Donna of Wind Kisses, Marcia of Always Write, Terri Webster Schrandt of Second Wind Leisure Perspectives, and another blogger with whom I’m not familiar. But I will be after this morning. 🙂 Enjoy Thursday!

It makes life much more interesting when power boxes become works of art. In this case, I’m also happy that some of them are blue.

for Thursday Doors 7.15.21 and Life in Colour: blue

I’m back from a week in Arizona of family time and looking at rental houses and areas (too early to rent yet but we need to get started), then a week of relaxation and family fun in Pasadena. I hope you enjoyed the two weeks of photos from “my” park, McDowell Forest Preserve in Naperville, Illinois. I do most of my walking in the park when I’m at home, but in Pasadena, I walked a lot back and forth between our daughter’s condo and Old Town Pasadena where I saw this power box a number of times. You get several doors for the price of one box.
