Tried a new recipe a days ago from a cookbook that I unfortunately didn’t get through before it was due (and there was a hold on it, so I had to take it back or suffer the dreaded fines.)  The cookbook is The Sprouted Kitchen, by Sara Forte and you can access her blog here for additional recipes:  http://www.sproutedkitchen.com/.  (Sara, thanks for giving me permission to share your recipe.)

The recipe made 16 of these tasty bars (or 8 twice the size.) I prefer to eat 2…just feels more decadent. 🙂

I wake at 4 again this morning, eye the clock, then decide, “No, too early”, considering my later night last night and the faint caffeine and brain buzz that kept me just this side of the edge of sleep for awhile.  Besides, today I don’t have to cross two time zones, losing two hours in one day. This recipe became a favorite in our house after our local Chinese restaurant for some inexplicable reason stopped making their cold sesame noodles, something about not being able to get the sauce, although I never really did figure out what the problem was.  But the sauce evidently never came back. Then I discovered this recipe in a mailing from Vegetarian Times and tried it, serving it the first time with trepidation for fear it wouldn’t be a suitable replacement.  Luckily, our younger daughter said she likes this better, making me a happy cook.  This makes excellent travel food as well as a dinner entrée.  You don’t have to put it in the take-out box, though.
