This trio of unusual photos came from the lovely downtown area of Staufen im Breisgau, a German town just over the French border, proving that Germany has its share of oddballs. Despite a rainy start, we had a lovely day there, beginning with a delicious lunch and ending with tea and treats.

Thursday doors…German doors #1, Staufen im Breisgau

The last time I was in northeast France visiting my s-i-l, we decided to leave France for a short while, driving across the border to Germany and the picturesque town of Staufen im Breisgau. Although the rain was beating down when we arrived, we partook of a delicious lunch, (food and drink make everything better), then walked through the streets, going into shops and enjoying being tourists. I took a number of door photos there, before even knowing about this challenge of Norm’s. The weather wasn’t very good, although the rain did stop after lunch, but we had a great time in the shadow of the local castle and its vineyards. We ended the day in a pastry shop, the perfect finish to a lovely get-away.
