September has arrived here in northern Illinois and with it, some lovely weather: mid-seventies (Fahrenheit) during most days and cool-chilly nighttime sleeping temperatures.  Perfect!  Summer appears to be holding strong, although a few colorful leaves are making an appearance on the trees.  Of course, my friends in the southern hemisphere are getting set (waiting) to enjoy summer!

Ironically, the theme for the first photo challenge of September is “Waiting.”  I guess I could have taken a selfie of me with my laptop on my lap, waiting for the challenge to come out, but that’s too easy and besides, I don’t do many selfies.

This shot was taken the morning of the eclipse as I left the cabin and the Bighorn Mountains on my way home.  I was waiting for the day and for the trip and it was a blessed way to leave a place I love.  The colors are as I saw them and are not retouched at all.
