Google Photos periodically decides to make a montage of various similar photos I’ve taken over the years, this one obviously featuring yellow flowers. It doesn’t let me choose the photos but nevertheless I think it’s an uplifting way to start the week (if you’re in the US and had yesterday off for Independence Day/Fourth of July) or to perk up your week if you live elsewhere.

Blessings on your week!

Spotted these on one of my morning walks. I like the color and the naturalness of the setting. If I seem inattentive today, it’s probably because my dad fell last night and is in the hospital so they can check whether he cracked or broke any ribs. So I imagine I’ll be a bit busy today. No, I don’t believe that Friday the 13th is bad luck. In fact, 13 was always my softball number and I consider Friday the 13th to be a lucky day. After all, his fall happened on the 12th. 🙂 A happy and blessed Friday and don’t forget to stop and enjoy the flowers. 🙂

…once again I have nothing, no Thursday Doors that is. It’s supposed to be the easy week, favorite doors from this year but I always find it hard to choose but mostly I’ve been busy.

A short explanation is in order because I haven’t been visiting your blogs nearly as much as I’d like. The simple reason is caring for aging parents, the reason we moved to Arizona in the first place but a task that’s become much more consuming in the last several months. I’m now generally at their house 3-4 hours a day to fix the main meal (prepared meals, not from scratch), clean, do laundry, run errands, etc. Sometimes, such as yesterday, it’s much more: a call at 3 am that Mom had slipped getting out of bed to go to the bathroom and was lying on the floor. Dad’s balance isn’t good enough to get her up, so I drove there, got back home in time to get another hour of sleep before getting up to leave at 7:30 am to take Dad to his eye doctor’s appointment, and then due to Mom having a really bad day, didn’t get home until 7 pm that night. They have no internet and obviously I didn’t feel much like doing anything but eating, relaxing a bit with my husband, and going to bed once I got home.

Not complaining, just explaining. On the several days a week when my husband goes over, I’m generally running errands, cleaning our house, and things of that nature as well as squeezing in some time for relaxation by reading while sipping tea. These days I’m hoping to get in some baking and finish and send my Christmas letter. So please don’t feel neglected. It’s what my priorities have to be right now.

Today’s offering for Jude’s December challenge of color, color, and more color comes from one of my walks earlier this year while visiting all our friends in Illinois. Along the back trails, I kept coming across bright drifts of flowers tucked among the tree. Soul food of the very best kind!

While walking one of the back paths of the park, I glanced towards the river to see three high, thick clumps of yellow irises. I waded through deep grass, over downed branches, around bushes, and then across what felt not like quicksand but quick mud. I could see where deer hooves had sunk in and my shoes were rimmed with mud when I reached the flowers but it was well worth it. I don’t know if they were wild or if someone for some reason went all that way to plant them but it was a stunning surprise especially with the sun behind them.

Fleur jaune = yellow flower. I’m not sure what type of flower this is, possibly broom of some sort. If anyone knows, feel free to let me know. In the meantime, just enjoy the flower and your Friday.

It’s sort of spring in the desert already or at least we’re getting some flowers again. I think we really have two growing seasons with a “winter” of hot weather between the two. I’m still trying to figure that out. At any rate, I was happy to see a plethora of yellow flowers during my last visit to the Preserve, just in time for Jude’s challenge this month of “Yellow.” I love yellow everywhere but in my clothes. It makes my skin look sallow, so I enjoy it from afar or not so far, just not on me. While I’m at it, I might as well link to Cee’s Flower of the Day challenge as well. 🙂
