Lens-Artists Photo Challenge: looking back

For this week’s Lens-Artists Challenge, Sofia’s theme is “Looking back.” I’m looking back at both history and my family with a copy of a photo of my great-great grandfather, John Keehn (Kuhn), originally from Denburg, Germany. He was in Company F-8 Regiment Indiana Volunteer Cavalry in the Civil War. Maybe that’s where I get my love of horses. 😉

Wild animals often look back to be sure nothing is sneaking up on them. But they can’t escape a telephoto!

I wonder what’s ruffling his feathers?

If you have an itch, you have to look back and scratch it!

Just checking.

Not worried yet but keeping my options open.

Lens-Artists Challenge #187: Water

As we near two years of living in Arizona, the challenge of sharing photos of water is somewhat amusing a/o daunting. Our city averages 9 inches of rain per year and if we have enough that we can’t count the raindrops, we think it’s a pretty good rain. Okay, that’s a little exaggerated, but not much. The most common water I see is in the canal where I walk and although not especially picturesque, canals are the lifeblood of the area.

Water serves a number of functions other than simply hydrating us and everything on earth. Here are a few I’ve found and enjoyed:

Water as food source…

Water as art (a sort of pointillism perhaps)…

Weekly Photo Challenge: Wanderlust…Yosemite with a helping of clouds

Welcome to Wednesday AKA Over-the-hump Day.  I hope your week’s off to a great start.  We’ve had lovely weather, but that’s due to change today, with rain and much cooler temperatures in the forecast.  However, it was a lovely weekend and I got a walk in this morning, so I’m not complaining.  😉

This week’s Photo Challenge Theme is “Wanderlust.”  I know it because I have it.  🙂  When the tea shop where I was working went entirely online, I decided that I wouldn’t start a new job until September and in the interim (February-August), I’d do as much traveling as possible. Unfortunately, my husband can’t come because of lack of vacation days, but fortunately he doesn’t mind me going.  What a guy!

My most recent trip was to Southern California with a side helping of Yosemite.  I’ve shared many of the Yosemite photos on my blog since then.  The morning we left, the clouds created a most magical show, creating dazzling looks at scenery already stunning.  Here’s one of the last shots I took on the way out.
