TGIF and time for…drum roll, please…the Weekly Photo Challenge!! The photo challenge is one of the best ways to meet people from around the world as well as to view amazing photos and interpretations of the weekly theme.
This week’s theme is “Shadowed.” I love photographing shadows and things that are shadowed, so it was difficult to make a choice. I finally settled on this photo, with its combination of late-afternoon light and actual shadows, enhanced with a bit of editing zoomy-ness. I love the home-y feel of it.
The basket looks as though it’s hovering on first glance… that’s the great thing about shadows!
I love taking photos with and of shadows, Laura. So much fun.

Beautiful, quite atmospheric.
Thanks, Sandra. Hope you have something great planned for the weekend.

Probably off to the North. 🙂
Thank you for getting the prompt to me. They really do make you think.
Beautiful Janet!
The lighting and shadows have turned this shot of something rather homespun into a drama queen!
Beautiful and …. inscrutable – I have never got my head around playing with shadows, but I think I have a start playing around. Have a nice weekend, Tina!
I love the dramatic light. Almost looks a bit spooky.
beautiful…the lighting is amazing
Most atmospheric, Janet
Great shot! I’ve yet to decide how to tackle this week challenge.
Glad you like it, Lu. Sometimes it takes a while to decide what to do. I have so many photos that I can usually find something for each week, which is nice.

Lovely photo and the effect is quite dreamy…. 🙂
I like the mood, the color tone and the faint zoom effect. And the long shadows, of course 🙂
It certainly creates a mood! Well done!
The basket casts such a complicated shadow. Nice.
Glad you like it. Thanks for stopping in and commenting as well.
janet
Really nice!
Thanks so much.
janet
You are welcome!
Great entry Janet😀
Thanks, Nicole. Have a great weekend and stay warm. 🙂
This is very, very cool;)
I’m happy you like it. What’s really cool is our weather right now. No, I lie. It’s freeeeeezing and more. 🙂
Enjoy the weekend.

I know. It is sucky. Chicago is yucky. Yet – we have had some blue sky pop out from time to time. It is terribly cold. Syd hates it;)
Chicago is often sunny, which makes it even colder, and the wind! Phew! Can’t wait until I can get back out to walk in the mornings. It’s been much too cold this week. and I miss it.
This is shadow awesomeness! Love the photo 🙂
Thanks, Robin. I’m pleased you like it. I do love taking photos of shadows.

Great I’m smiling at the word zoomynes. Perfect for app play! 🐣
Always good to have fun, Carol. I hope your weekend is filled with it.

this is an intriguing shot… 😛
What? Not a “great” shot?? Sticking my tongue out right back at you!
janet
oh it is good – and I know that intriguing and interesting can be pseudo words for a half like – but not in this case – I love the shot – the angle – the colors – but intriguing was the first word that came to my mind cos I could not figure out what it was and then when I looked and looked again – it was just cool)
I like “intriguing” although I must admit that “interesting” can cover a multitude of either sins or good things. When you write lot of comments as you and I do, finding the right word without it always being the same word, is a challenge. But, since I like words, it’s a good one.
janet
good – and I still sometimes think of that post you made with tips for commenting – even though comments usually come easy for me – but It got me thinking – and in my case I sometimes might need to tone it down (and leave off exclamation marks maybe) – ha! but I also know that less can be more with a comment – and while always keeping it real – I also like when I can just leave a sentence or a word – hmmm –
It’s so easy to use lots of exclamation marks when online. But then what’s the next step? More? I’m trying to go back to just using a period most of the time and pick words that convey what I mean.
same here – and I also feel comfortable to use cool as much as I want – or nice post – and if someone gets crabby about it – well it is what it is I guess – ha!

enjoyed comment chatting with you today – 🙂 ❤
Me, too, with you. One of the best parts of blogging! (Exclamation point intended.) 🙂
indeed – and ! (ha) 💞✌
Beautiful shot !

Coming from such a wonderful photographer, that compliment is much appreciated.
janet
Incredibly Srunning .. well caprtured and the impact of the capture is far less than anticipated. Wonderful photo … !!!!😎
Thanks, Izzy.

Mmm … I think I’d better spell check myself when I leave comments. My laptop has auto correct but it doesn’t speak English. 😳 That word should have been stunning not scrunning. I’m off to look that word up. Sorry 😔
I knew what you meant, Izzy. Usually I just edit that sort of thing in the comment but I was in a hurry this morning and hadn’t done it yet. No worries.
Very nice Janet – comes across as very moody with the dark lighting (is there such a thing??)😊
It looks like a quiet afternoon. 🙂 I like the mood of the photo, Janet.
It was a quiet afternoon, Imelda, and I’m glad that came across. It makes me feel peaceful to look at it and peace is so valuable these days.
