The first real day of spring

Thursday was the first real day of spring:  temperatures climbing to a bit of 70 F, first day without a coat/jacket needed, sunshine all day…and this little beauty discovered under a bush in our front  yard.  Thankfully, all our daffodils/narcissus seem to have survived the many nights of below-freezing temperatures and are either already blooming or getting ready to do so.  We may have a few more cold days before temperatures settle into the mid-fifties during the day, spring weather and so welcome!

Debbie hosts Six-Word Saturday every week and these six words made me happier to write than perhaps any I’ve used to far.

  1. Great to see some bright colour!!

  2. Dan Antion says:

Good to see the real signs of spring in the air (and on the ground).

We might see 70 today. It’s been a while. Ironically, we haven’t seen 70 since February. Winter has been crazy this year.

  3. Beautiful flower and temperatures. We are expecting freezing rain tomorrow.

    • Boo for freezing rain! I woke last night to pouring rain and wind, but at least it’s above (just a bit) freezing this morning and today. Not exciting, though, when it’s 38 now with an expected high of…wait for it…39 and feels like 27 with wind. Sigh.

    It’s a joyful sight, Janet 🙂 🙂

    Love the purple!

  6. Croucs make it official! Glad you and yours survived the long ongoing winter!

  7. Nice photo, Janet. Have the Freesia and Quince bloomed by now?

  8. markd60 says:

I certainly don’t miss the cold weather, but I do sometimes miss sunny, cool crisp mornings! ! Beautiful photo!

  9. joey says:

Pretty! That photo is almost identical to one I took about a month ago. I so love the early bulbs. They’re a great welcome, especially when you catch them on your way out on a cold day 🙂

    What a little beauty

Now we can’t help wondering if your summer will be a scorcher too, Janet. And will we see snow in Sydney for the first time ever? We’d be laughing if global warming wasn’t so serious. Cheers, Ken

What do you think? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this, that or the other thing.
