In deciding to answer this challenge from the desert, I realized that a great many of desert colors are bright and vibrant. I guess they have to be to stand up to the bright sunshine. It wasn’t easy to find delicate colors. Here are a few, although the first one makes it obvious that delicate and soft or gentle aren’t necessarily the same. 🙂

It’s beautiful, but it looks otherworldly.
As I hoped it would. 🙂
Those Are gorgeous shades of purple.
Thanks! 🙂
That first photo, especially, is a killer. I’ve never seen nopales with those little artichoke-like growths on them.
Thanks, Judy. I didn’t know that’s what the cactus was called. But they’re interesting looking, aren’t they?
Yes. And very nutritional. Very popular in Mexico and especially good for losing weight.
I like the first one!!
A delicate color on something that isn’t. 🙂
Interesting selection, Janet!
Thanks, Sue. I hope you enjoyed them.
I did
Very special, Janet! The first one looks surreal…like you had painted it and decorated it yourself!
It’s certainly a lovely color, isn’t it, but I don’t think I’d have added all those sharp bits. 🙂
;-D
Lovely, gorgeous colors, Janet. I especially love your first shot. Great perspective.
Thanks, Patti. Close enough but not so close that I get stuck. 😉🌵
Beautiful. I like the cactus.
Thanks, John. Lots of them out here! And they are beautiful.
janet
Beautiful. Especially that cactus
Thanks very much.

I guess we’ll have to do a vibrant colors challenge soon Janet. Like you I found delicate colors a bit hard to find. That said, yours are quite beautiful
As were yours. 🙂
A beautiful set of delicate colors! Great selections.
I’m glad you enjoyed them, Amy.
These are all lovely Janet
Thanks, Su. 🥰
I had the same experience. Contrary to popular belief our deserts are quite colorful. I love your choice of the Santa-rita cactus perfect.
Thanks very much. Certainly a different beauty and color palette in the desert. The other two images are also from the desert in the backyard of our house. The pink is a macro of a torch cactus bloom.

Oh, nice. stumped me. The cactus blooms always feel like such a gift. I guess kind of like crocuses in other parts of the country. Donna
🙂 The torch cactus has bloomed three times–to welcome us to Arizona, I think. Having lived in the Midwest my entire life (with stops in Colorado and summers in Wyoming) it’s a very different experience. So far, so good 🙂
I can relate. we lived in Yellowstone for two years and then came to AZ. I killed so many plants the first year (and I am a Master Gardener in 2 other states. lol). but I think I finally have it figured out. Donna
Oh, yes, gardening…in “soil” that’s a mix of cement and rock, I think. 🙂 Just because Lowe’s has plants out doesn’t mean it’s the best time to plant them, as I found out the hard way already. 😉 But we’ve only been there two months, so I’ll get there.
lol. you will.
Lovely shades of purple, Janet. Made me remember how my mom was so fond of wearing these colours.
I have several friends who love purple, too, Sylvia.
