If it weren’t for those flowers, that opposition, people wouldn’t appreciate the desert nearly as much. The flowers are really like buds and flowers on trees and bushes and elsewhere and necessary for birds, bees, etc.
Cacti can be as spectacular as any other plant of flower and because of the contrast with the rest of the plant, it’s more appreciated and more unexpected.
There is nothing more interesting than the way these prickly characters can blossom overnight and before long retreat to their naturally thorny selves. Rather like me after a bad night’s sleep! Lovely choice Janet.
🙂 I understand the comparison with you (and everyone else), Tina. Cacti are so off-putting that the gorgeous flowers certainly soften them and make them more attractive to people as well as to pollinators and birds. But that beauty is certainly opposite the way they look without the flowers. 🙂

Perfect oppositeness, Janet. Isn’t nature clever!

Fab photo which totally aces this week’s challenge
If you could see me smiling at this comment, Sheree… Thanks so much.
You’re very welcome
Such a beautiful bloom. Makes me want to be there to view Spring in action.
I’m looking forward to seeing the saguaros bloom!
That is so pretty and unexpected. Nice!

This is cute and pretty. Nicely oppositional
One thing about the desert is that you learn that prickly and somewhat unattractive things can have a beautiful side as well, much like people. 🙂
Good metaphor. Good thought.
Those of us not near a desert don’t realize its flowering beauties.
The flowers certainly present a contrast to the rest of the plant, don’t they? 🙂

That’s lovely and perfect for the challenge.
Thanks, Deborah. I think that if God hadn’t given cacti this sort of seasonal beauty, it would have been a great shame.
I agree!
Truer words were never shown! Fab, Janet!
Thank you kindly, my friend. ❤
Good find
It’s that time of year here. 😉
😊
You really nailed it, Janet. 👏🏻Great idea for the challenge.
Thanks so much, Sylvia. 😘
A beautiful juxtaposition!
Thanks. There’s lots of beauty on the desert although it’s not always as apparent as elsewhere.
