It’s been a beautiful month of blacks and greys, but how can we already be in the last month of the year? I’m excited to be putting up Christmas decorations and as we have a smallish artificial tree that is decorated mostly with bird ornaments and other nature items, it seems appropriate to end this month’s theme with a bird photo.
“In order to see birds it is necessary to become a part of the silence.”
― Robert Lynd
“Birds chirping around you is a beautiful realisation that life is incredibly good. Let this sound be a gentle break in your routine.”
― Hiral Nagda
I couldn’t agree more with both quotes. A lovely capture of a lovely bird Janet. Thanks for your month of blacks and greys, I have enjoyed them all.

I’ll be finishing the week with more blacks/greys since I realized it ran all week yet. Thanks for hostessing all this time with all the work that involves!
We could learn much by the birds – they nearly always seems positive. 🙂
But they can certainly make quite a racket or at least some of them can.
I bet your tree is a natural beauty.
It is and it’s up. I’ll be sharing a photo or photos of it at some point (which I do every year, I think.) I have a couple new ornaments this year, a heron and a ladybug. 🙂
Excellent quotes serving as bookends to an image that makes everyone smile. To me, the quotes have a sense of ying and yang – and that’s a good thing.
Thanks you, Grasshopper. 🙂
I like silence. I’ve enjoyed your photos, noisy or not!
I enjoy quiet and silence as well but I’m glad to know you like even my loud photos. 🙂
Gorgeous image, Janet! I like those two quotes a lot too.
Thanks, Deborah. 🙂
You’re welcome! 😀
May not be as flashy as some birds but still pretty to look at. Great capture and quotes!
Handsome in a quiet way.
Love this image, Janet!
Thanks, Sue. He was looking pretty cute.
😊😊
Lovely thoughts
Thanks. I’m glad you enjoyed them. 🙂

Both quotes accompanying your beautiful photograph had me nodding in full agreement this morning, Janet. When I start work in the morning and I have the music of birdsong in the background it makes my job a little easier.
Was it 4 am when you commented? That’s an early morning! I agree with your feeling about hearing bird song. Sometimes when the finch is singing I just stop to listen and smile.
Yep – I am an early riser, real farm boy. Early to rise and early to bed.
I’m an early riser but not normally that early. 😉
Certainly apropos. I too, am grateful to be putting up Christmas decorations. The bird seems to be listening for YOU in that silence. That quote was spot on. When we walk to the sunrise n the morning its so cool to hear who wakes up first…or goest to sleep last. I keep hearing an owl when I start and cant seem to see where its nesting. Glad you had a nice trip with your husband. and now….perfect weather. Donna
Thanks, Donna. The weather was great and just not having any deadlines was enough to start the day off right.
Yup, I really like the photo and both quotes, as well, Janet. It is very hard to believe it’s almost Christmas again! 🌞
It really is, Lisa. I got almost all the decorations up this morning so it looks very festive inside. I often leave them up until well after Epiphany because we both like them so much, as did the girls when they were still at home.
Sweet bird….
Janet, I’m seeing ads on your site
I don’t care, but I never saw them before. I’m mentioning this just in case you are paying for no ads.
I’m not, just paying for extra space. I can’t see whether or not there are ads. Sorry. I wish there weren’t any.
It’s only sometimes.
