Many people might say they renovated their house in 2012. But how many can say their house has been around since 1478?
Enamored of doors? There are plenty more every Thursday, and sometimes later, at Norm’s blog. Got doors? Join us. It’s a great time.
Very nice; engineered to last!
Definitely a sturdy door.

I love the whole feel to this door – from the ornate window to the orange and gray around 🙂
Simple but attractive.

and different – so different
Wow! Can’t say more, really can’t.
Glad you liked it, Hammad.

It looks as though it was built to last, and obviously it did not having to be renovated till 2012. Amazing…
I’m just guessing that means “renovated” Pauline, but based on the date, I think it’s a safe guess. Maybe someone with German can let us know. But it might not be the door that was renovated, but the home. I just thought this morning that in many TV and movie dramas, police will kick down a door. Not this baby!
janet
It could be like a door on Fort Knox…
🙂 It certainly looks sturdy, Pauline.

Where is this door?
Staufen im Breisgau

Great find 🙂
I wish I’d taken more shots of great doors there, but who knew I’d find this challenge? 🙂
janet
I think we all have those regrets, Janet! 🙂
But now that we’re part of Thursday Doors, no door is safe from our predatory cameras!!
Yes! *pumps fist*
Simple, functional, and perfectly maintained. Great find!
Glad you like it, Norm. It was a beautiful area of the town.

What a great door, and that colour really suits it and the old building it belongs to. 1478, how wonderful that it was renovated and preserved.
I don’t know if the door is that old, but the house is and that’s pretty special, although there, many houses are old.
janet
Wow, if walls, and doors could talk. 🙂 Few doors can claim that much history and still be working.
It would be so interesting to hear the history!
janet
That was certainly a door made to last! Can you just imagine what that door has seen…if it could only talk! Thanks for sharing 🙂
I love the quality that allows homes to still be standing and functional after so much time, although they certainly wouldn’t be very comfortable if not updated. Yes, the history would be fascinating.

Love the iron work of the window on this door! That they put the year down in which it was built – I think a great info for the ones who come after us. Happy Thursday to you!
Thanks for stopping by and commenting. The iron work is certainly lovely and adds a lot of appeal to the door.

Wonderful – love the colours too
Simple but attractive. I like that.
janet
Beth nice. I likd that!
Not sure what that comment means, Dan. 🙂
janet
Well, Janet, I would think the explanation is obvious – I entered this comment on my phone 🙂
I think I meant to say “Very nice. I like that!”
On the phone…that explains everything perfectly, Dan!
I love the window – I wonder if that’s original to the door. Somehow I think not.
The door may not be original, either, but it works beautifully with the house, even if not as old.

The door has so much character. The wrought iron work has a great many images in it. At first, I saw a cat. Then, the symbol for medicine. Also, an abratct circular design. It’s a very interesting door, Janet. Long lasting, too. Love it …!!!
What a wonderful door. Great image.
This area of the town was full of lovely doors. If I’d known about the challenge then, I would have taken more photos of doors. 🙂
