As we wandered in the old part of Philadelphia, we spotted all sorts of doors and buildings worth photographing. One such duo is the Italian Consulate, housed in a building of old world charm and detail. Sometimes the effect of a door is more than just the door itself. The surroundings can make it even more special, as in this instance.
I like the attractive simplicity of the doors and the restrained beauty of the details around them. I also managed to avoid a selfie.
Where can you find the Consulate? Within view of Independence Hall.
Impressive!
It is, Aletta. Philadelphia is one of the oldest cities in the US, so there’s lots of old world architectural beauty there.

Must be amazing to see it,
It is. 🙂
Strong and simple – the strength of Italian endeavor:) Great captures, Janet, also lookinf from the window!
Good morning, Jesh. It’s not completely simple but doesn’t go over the top with decorative features, which I appreciate. 🙂
That is a beautiful entrance! great photos including the reflections!
Thanks very much, Joanne. That day our walk through the city took much more time than if my daughter had been walking on her own. We were stopping constantly for me to take photos of doors. 🙂

hahaha! Sounds like many of my walks 🙂
That is a beautiful entrance. We don’t mind the selfies, just so you know.
I like the reflections, and I love that arched ceiling.
I agree that an arched ceiling is attractive, especially with these decorative touches. I do know that about selfies. 😉

What wonderful pictures! That reflection is priceless! I’m sorry to miss a doorfie, though. 🙂
Another time, Marian. I didn’t want to distract from the doors. 🙂 Cough, cough.

🙂
It almost reminds me of the atrium to a church. But wonderful doors.
Philadelphia is full of wonderful doors, so it’s fun but slow walking. 🙂

What a beautiful entrance. Very clever of you to capture the reflection of Independence Hall, Janet, and manage to avoid a selfie. 🙂
🙂 What can I say, Jean? It was a great day and I have lots and lots more doors from it, so that made it even better.
I love the filigree above the doors. Looks like a border I would use on one of my scrapbooking pages.
And I bet that would look pretty. It’s looked good here, too.

Simple doors but perfectly elegant and very much appropriate for their purpose. Nice find Janet 🙂
It’s hard not to find photograph-able doors in Philly, Norm, at least in the city itself. I imagine the suburbs are more like other places, but there are so many older buildings/homes/row houses that it’s a door-lovers joy.
Love the composure of your last shot. Nice. Looks like a mighty fancy consulate!
In Philadelphia, many of the buildings are old, historic ones and look fancy to us. Not sure what the inside is like, but the outside is pretty good!

Now that’s a beautiful entry!
Thaw very much, Candy.

What magnificent doors! Lovely…
Wonderful post dear 😊😊 Beautiful photos x x
Oh my the reflections in the glass in and around the doors is just lovely! The doors are grand!
I thought it had just the right amount of grandness, Deborah, not too overdone but still impressive.
janet
Beautiful photo with the reflection of the blue sky above the doors. Very nice.
Thanks, Ally. I appreciate your visit and your comment.
janet
Oh yes, just grand. Dig those reflections!
I always enjoy a good reflection, Joey, so I’m happy to find out you like them, too. Happy weekend!
