A view from The Strand along the ocean in Manhattan Beach. You just have to get a little low to see this view. I love this river of smooth rocks and for extra credit we have the grey fog and sky in the background.

it is a lovey view! I like the rocks!
I am about to say the same, though I have to agree pebbles are not comfy.
That’s true, but it’s still lovely to look at😊
I agree, Andrew, but this strip of land is mostly for landscaping and not walking as it drops off to the beach below at the end of the rocks. Thanks for the visit and comment. Always appreciated.
janet
I do, too. Very calming.
🙂
Love the look but not very comfy to walk or sit on, Janet.
I agree, Jo, but as it’s on a strip of land between the wide, paved path that we were walking on and a drop off to the beach, I think it’s more likely to be just a lovely bit of landscaping.
🤣💕
That’s a very pleasing and soothing composition, Janet.
Thanks, Madison. Glad you enjoyed it. I saw your owl in progress, although I haven’t had time to comment. Love it!!
Those are fabulous rocks Janet. Is it deliberately set out to represent a river as in the Japanese style? I see the beach itself is sandy. Great shot too!
I’d have to guess they were put that way on purpose but I don’t know for sure. Behind me are all the fabulous beach houses (mansions, really), then The Strand (the wide, paved walkway we’re on), then a wide strip of “yard” which is what you’re seeing with the rocks and vegetation. After that, the land drops off down to another path along the beach and finally the actual wide beach and, beyond that, the ocean. So people landscape the strip between Strand and drop off. All the long bit to say that I think it’s deliberate as well as to give you perspective on what you’re seeing and not seeing. 🙂
The colors and textures in this photo are way cool. Nicely done
Thanks for stopping by, Ally. I’m glad you liked the photo. I love the rocks although they might not be so nice to walk on with bare feet.
The low perspective is very effective 🙂
Thanks, Sarah! It make a very different photo from one taken in a standing position. I thinks this one is more interesting.
Love this composition and photo Janet!
Thanks, Ritva! It looks very different from this low view than from a standing view.
Yes the low view made really interesting
Nice one, Janet!
Thanks very much, Sue. Hope you’re having a good Monday.
Boring chores! You?
Same. 😁.
😊
But I went to the library as well which is always good. 🙂
Oh, good for you!
Nice view!
That it was. 🙂
What a beautiful scene. The horizon seems to stretch out forever, and I love the stone pathway.
The stones don’t go too far but they’re so smooth and lovely that it gave me joy to look at them and then into the distance.
A really beautifully composed image, Janet!
Thanks so much, Dries.
Being a person who loves rocks, this photo certainly brought a smile. I’ve been known to buy buckets of these rocks. 🙂
I know how you feel, Judy. I’d buy some too if I had a place to put them. Most of our yard is covered with rocks but they’re not this type of rock.
What a pleasing shape of everything! But I would rather not be walking on it.
I agree, at least if you’re barefooted.
🙂
Hahaha! Yes, it is a rocky view!
But a smooth and pretty one. 🙂
Yes, those smooth rocks – just seeing them – is soothing.. and to touch them is surely a lovely moment!
I have two smooth rocks that I love to just hold or turn around in one hand. They’re so soothing.
